On the one hand, large cylindrical batteries have gradually increased their penetration rate in the passenger car market due to their performance advantages such as energy density, fast charging, and safety, coupled with the recognition of leading automakers such as Tesla and BMW.
On the other hand, with the continuous deepening of full scene electrification, large cylindrical batteries have also opened up diversified supporting facilities and accelerated their use in household storage eVTOL、 Technical validation and market validation in multiple fields such as light power.
GGII predicts that the shipment of cylindrical batteries in China will exceed 400GWh by 2030, with a compound annual growth rate of over 50.1% from 2023 to 2030.
With the expansion of large cylindrical batteries in various scenarios of the dynamic storage market, multiple battery companies have increased their production capacity and significantly improved yield rates. Behind this, it is even more inseparable from the optimization and equipment support of core processes such as Quanji Ear by equipment companies.

The project aims to promote the overall improvement of the production process and equipment level of large cylindrical batteries through collaborative innovation of "government industry university research application".
Gaogong Lithium Battery has learned that the project focuses on the laser welding process of large cylindrical battery full pole ears. In response to the challenges faced during the welding process, such as high reactive materials and sudden changes in physical properties, ultra-thin multi-layer full pole ear materials, and precise control of large temperature gradients between the ear and diaphragm, the project aims to develop laser light field spatiotemporal modulation technology and devices, multi parameter fusion sensing welding real-time monitoring technology and system, as well as the integration and application of precision laser welding equipment for full pole ear batteries, with the goal of achieving systematic optimization of yield, stability, and speed.

In 2024, after gradually achieving mass production, large cylindrical batteries will continue to expand their application scenarios due to their comprehensive performance advantages. They have gradually extended from the fields of new energy vehicles, tricycles, energy storage, and electric tools to 3C consumption eVTOL、 Emerging fields such as drones, electric ships, and robots are experiencing explosive growth in market demand.
Since the beginning of this year, there has been a significant increase in the commencement and expansion of cylindrical battery projects, as well as a noticeable increase in orders from battery and equipment companies. According to relevant data, from the perspective of production capacity planning, as of the first half of 2025, the global production capacity plan for 46 series large cylindrical batteries has exceeded 6 billion pieces.
The urgent need for continuous improvement of performance, extreme manufacturing, and ultimate quality of large cylindrical batteries is the practical background for the launch of this project. Yifei Laser stated that since the fourth quarter of last year, there has been a significant increase in new orders for cylindrical batteries both domestically and internationally.
In order to meet the mass production needs of the entire series of cylindrical batteries, Yifei Laser has launched a series of cylindrical full pole ear cell assembly equipment, which has the advantages of high efficiency, high yield, and high intelligence. It has achieved comprehensive coverage of 18-60mm cells and different process/structural paths, becoming the first choice for many leading battery enterprises and automotive companies, and has been selected for the national manufacturing industry single champion product list released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

This project brings together equipment companies, battery manufacturers, and university research institutes, relying on the new innovation platform of "technology research and development engineering verification analysis and testing" built by Yifei Laser Engineering Technology Research Institute, to jointly tackle the common problems of large-scale production of large cylindrical batteries.
