CATL: Expected to announce new European joint venture factory projects this year

On January 21st, Pan Jian, Co Chairman of CATL, announced at the Davos Forum that CATL announced the establishment of a joint venture power battery factory with Stellantis in Spain in December last year. CATL is also expected to announce new joint venture factory projects with other OEMs in Europe this year. Including the Spanish joint venture factory, CATL has currently established three battery factories in Europe.

Longpan Technology and CATL sign 2025 positive electrode material procurement agreement
Longpan Technology recently announced that on January 17th, the company signed another annual procurement agreement for positive electrode materials with CATL, with a maximum procurement limit of 7 billion yuan for the year 2025. At the same time, CATL will also supply Longpan Technology with the required lithium carbonate raw materials such as lithium mica, with a procurement limit of 1.32 billion yuan. According to the procurement agreement, Longpan Technology will sell Longpan products, including but not limited to lithium iron phosphate cathode materials, to Ningde Times and related units.

Rongbai Technology received an order for sodium positive electrode materials
Recently, Rongbai Technology received an order for 3000 tons of sodium positive electrode materials from downstream customers for 2025. According to the order agreement, the partner will purchase a total of 3000 tons of sodium oxide layered cathode materials from Rongbai Technology in 2025.

China's lithium carbonate imports increased by 46% in December
According to recent customs data, the total import volume of lithium carbonate in China in December 2024 was about 28035 tons, reaching a historical high, with a month on month increase of 46% and a year-on-year increase of 38%. The average import price is about $10317 per ton, an increase of 7.6% compared to the average price in November. In 2024, China imported approximately 235000 tons of lithium carbonate, a year-on-year increase of 48%. Among them, about 184000 tons of lithium carbonate were imported from Chile, accounting for 78%, an increase of 32% year-on-year; Approximately 47000 tons of lithium carbonate were imported from Argentina, accounting for about 20%, an increase of 155% year-on-year. Chile and Argentina remain the main sources of lithium carbonate imports for our country.

The project of producing 10000 tons of silicon carbon negative electrode materials annually has settled in Yichang, Hubei Province
Recently, Yichang High tech Zone signed a cooperation agreement with Luoyang Lianchuang Lithium Energy Technology Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 1 billion yuan and an annual output of 10000 tons of new energy battery silicon carbon negative electrode new material project settled in Yichang, Hubei. It is reported that the first phase of the project covers an area of about 50 acres and will construct 2000 tons of silicon carbon negative electrode materials and related supporting facilities.
